News: Madballs and Tour de France 2009 also added.

Microsoft updated the Xbox Live Arcade with three new games yesterday.

The biggest release is the XBLA Special Edition of The Secret of Monkey Island. The game, which was also released for the PC yesterday, is a high definition remake of the classic LucasArts adventure from 1990:

Pirates! Adventure! Monkeys! Relive the hilarious swashbuckling misadventures of the wannabe pirate Guybrush Threepwood as he attempts to become the most infamous pirate in the Caribbean! Back by popular demand, The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition faithfully re-imagines the internationally-acclaimed classic pirate adventure game from LucasArts in gorgeous HD detail. Featuring an all new re-imagined contemporary art style, hand-drawn and presented in 1080p, complete voice over by members of the original Monkey Island franchise cast, a re-mastered musical score using live instruments, plus scene-for scene-hot swap to seamlessly transition between Special Edition and Classic modes at anytime.

Also being released yesterday was the ball-bustin' arena battler Madballs in Babo Invasion:

Madballs in...Babo:Invasion is an arena-based 3D shooter featuring Oculus Orbus, a slimy mass of bloodshot veins who possesses an ultra-deadly "Ramming Speed" superpower that allows him to stun attack his enemies, and a super-speedy "Fast Forward" ability, which he uses to escape danger and any incoming fatal blows. Also up for the Babo:Invasion challenge is Horn Head, a bodiless Cyclops with a massive horn jutting out of his forehead who can spin his nose chain with his "Psycho Slash" power to inflict pain, or taking it to the next level, can become an insane "Psyclone" of slobber and destruction. Both characters are fully loaded with weapons, unlockable weapon modes and plenty of Madballs' attitude.

Finally, in honor of Le Tour, Cyanide Studios (developer of the upcoming Blood Bowl) has released Tour de France 2009:

Tour de France 2009 is the most famous cycling race's official simulation game. Choose one of the 18 official teams and lead it through 2009 edition's 21 official legs by interacting directly on you riders. Early breakaways, fights for jerseys, sprints are some of the possible behaviors that are particularly specific to the sport. Race up to 4 players, wheel to wheel, on Live Arcade to lead your team to the highest step on the podium.

All three games are available to download now for 800 Microsoft Points ($10).
