News: The Man in Black says you can play GH World Tour and GH Smash Hits songs in GH5.

One of the best features of Rock Band 2 will finally make an appearance in Guitar Hero 5 when its released on September 1.

According to a new preview of the game at IGN, Guitar Hero 5 owners will be able to import songs from Guitar Hero: World Tour and Guitar Hero: Smash Hits into the latest release in Activision's music franchise. This importing feature will, in effect, make the PS3, Wii and Xbox 360 versions of Guitar Hero into a "music platform", similar to how Harmonix refers to the Rock Band games. A small fee will be required to import the songs and not all songs will be importable due to licensing restrictions. Activision also told IGN that 152 of the 158 currently available downloadable tracks for GHWT will work in Guitar Hero 5.

The song importing feature will also work in Band Hero when it's released on November 17.

Finally, there's good news for fans of the Man in Black: Johnny Cash will be a playable character in Guitar Hero 5 during his song "Ring of Fire". Cash's movements in the game will be provided by Johnny Cash tribute artist Terry Lee Goffee.

We'll have more soon.
