News: With stories from Eric Nylund, Tobias Buckell and Karen Traviss.
Tor Books has announced the next title in their popular series of books based on the Halo franchise will be released in November. Unlike the previous books in the series, Halo: Evolutions will not be a full-length novel. Instead, it will be a collection of short stories set in and around the Halo universe.
The collection will include stories from a variety of writers including Halo veterans Eric Nylund (author of Halo: The Fall of Reach, Halo: First Strike and Halo: Ghosts of Onyx)and Tobias Buckell (author of Halo: The Cole Protocol). Karen Traviss, the author behind several Star Wars Expanded Universe novels as well as the Gears of War novel adaptations, will also contribute a story. Other stories will come from employees of Bungie and other developers behind the Halo universe, including Robt McLees, the keeper of "The Halo Story Bible."
УThere are so many interesting and exciting playgrounds that are spawning from every Halo offering,Ф says Eric Raab, Tor editor. УThis is a great chance to watch writers have some fun with these areas and expand on some of the unexplored mythos and characters, while at the same time creating new ones as well. Think of the short story collection as a new litter of Halo stories, each excitingly unique.Ф
УThe chance to explore corners of the Halo universe, whether obscure or popular, is something we are always excited to do, but the chance to shine light on these dark corners with the talents of these wonderful luminaries, is a pleasure indeed,Ф says Frank O'Connor, Franchise Development Director, 343 Industries. УThe combination of fresh eyes and old hands guarantees a brilliant continuation of a Halo tradition.Ф
In addition to the trade paperback version, Halo: Evolutions will also be released as an unabridged audiobook.
We'll have more soon.
