News: An impressive first month for the Wii Sports sequel.
Less than a month after being released, Nintendo has announced that Wii Sports Resort has sold over a million copies in the United States.
The sequel to Wii Sports, the bestselling video game of all-time thanks to the fact it is bundled with the Wii system, also includes the Wii MotionPlus add-on for the Wii Remote. According to Nintendo, more than two million MotionPlus add-ons have been sold thanks to the peripheral being bundled with Wii Sports Resort and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10. The MotionPlus add-on is also sold by itself, without any game, for $19.99.
According to the NPD Group's monthly sales tracking, Wii Sports Resort sold 500,000 copies in its first week of availability (and sold more than any other game in July), so its likely it will be the top selling game again in August (unless Batman: Arkham Asylum makes a big splash).
We'll have more soon.
