News: New colors for the DSi as well.
Does everyone remember this picture from E3 2005 when Nintendo first unveiled the Wii...
The original plan was to release Wii Remotes in a rainbow of colors, like the company did with GameCube and Nintendo 64 controllers. The practice was even very popular (I love my red N64 controller). But here we are almost three years later and the only color they're currently available in is white. That all changes this holiday season, as Nintendo plans to release the Wii Remote, Nunchuk and Wii MotionPlus in black...
The accessories will be available in two different bundles. The Wii Remote and the Wii MotionPlus will be sold together while the Nunchuk will be sold separately. As you can see, a black controller jacket will also be included so as not to spoil the new color with the plain plastic color the Wii Remote uses now.
But what about that rainbow? Well, Nintendo has said that black is the "first" new color they plan to make available. So presumably, others will follow (I'm still holding out for red). Sadly, as of right now, the differently colored Wii systems that were also on display at E3 2005 are not in the planning stages.
However, Nintendo's other system, the DSi will be receiving new colors this Fall. Actually, it'll be in less than two weeks, on September 13, when Nintendo will make the portable available in white and pink. These new colors will join the Matte Blue and Matte Black systems that are already available.
We'll have more on the colorful world of Nintendo soon.
