News: Declare Modern Warfare on the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 this week.

It's here! It's here! It's finally here! Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, one of the most anticipated games of all-time, will be released this week on the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The title, which has racked up more pre-orders at GameStop than any other game ever, will be available in several different editions. There's the standard game-only edition, the "Hardened" edition, and the Prestige Edition, which will include a pair of working night vision goggles. Microsoft is also putting out a special edition Xbox 360 Elite console that will include a Call of Duty-themed case design, a 250GB hard drive and a copy of the game.

While dozens of other games will also be released this week, only one will actually challenge Modern Warfare 2. It is also the only game being released this Fall that could hope to challenge Infinity Ward's juggernaut. It is, of course, New Super Mario Bros. Wii. While a new sidescrolling Mario game doesn't pack the same punch it would have two decades ago, it is notable in that its the first sidescrolling Mario game to appear on a console since 1991. It is also the first time the series has seen cooperative multiplayer since the first game to bear the Mario moniker, Mario Bros.

Several other smaller games of note are also being released this week, though some of them are still part of the Call of Duty franchise. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare - Reflex brings Call of Duty 4 to the Wii for the first time while Call of Duty: Modern Warfare - Mobilized is a DS port of the sequel.

For non-Call of Duty new releases, there's Phantasy Star 0 on the DS, Buzz! Quiz World on the PS3 and Dragon Ball: Raging Blast on the PS3 and Xbox 360.
