News: Have you heard about this Call of Duty thing? It's kind of a big deal.
How big of a deal is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2? Well, over three million copies of the game were available in stores on launch day... just in the United Kingdom. According to UK game industry site MCV that is "an unprecedented first-day ship number" and will likely break all sales numbers in the UK.
While all three million aren't expected to be sold on the first day, that number dwarfs the 900,000 copies sold by Grand Theft Auto IV during its first week of availability back in 2008.
Activision has not released the American or worldwide numbers yet, but I'm guessing its only a matter of time before they start bragging about just how many copies the "biggest event in entertainment history" has sold.
