News: But when will it be released? Who knows...
In an interview with Techland, Blizzard's Executive Vice President of Game Design Rob Pardo has confirmed that Diablo III will not be released in 2010.
УWe always announce all of our games too early,Ф Pardo said, referring to when Diablo III was unveiled at Blizzard's Worldwide Invitational in 2008. УWe realize that and go, СYou know what? Next time we're not going to do that.' And then we always fail at that. But I'd rather fail at that than fail at making the game great. I think it's safe to say that, yeah, [Diablo III] is not going to be out next year.Ф
Delays are nothing new to fans of Blizzard's games. They've always operated on the "when it's done" philosophy of game design. And they've always been more than eager to share their progress with the gaming community. But when will it be released?
According to Pardo, the official company line is "Who knows?"...
УNow when we announce (a game) we just go, СHere's the game we're working on, we're going to start talking about it and who knows when it ships.'Ф
So there you have it. Diablo III will be released eventually, someday, but definitely not next year. At least StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty is still on track for a 2010 release.
We'll have more soon.
