Capcom's Dark Void is one of the most anticipated games of 2010 and with good reason. The game's jetpack-based action and cinematic presentation make it look like it'll stand out from the pack. But did you no the game was actually inspired by an unfinished 80s arcade game that Capcom has had lying around for the last two decades?
OK, maybe not, but that is the story behind the newly announced prequel Dark Void Zero. Developed by Other Ocean exclusively for the DSiWare download service, Dark Void Zero will be a 2D Metroid-like side-scroller complete with its own jetpack mechanic and its own hero, Rusty. According to GameSpot, Rusty was one of the first humans trapped in The Void and has been fighting The Watchers with the help of famed scientist Nikola Tesla for a long time.
Dark Void Zero will feature three levels (each with its own boss battle) that have been described as "beat you up and take your lunch money" hard. But don't take my (or GameSpot's) word for it, check out the first trailer for Dark Void Zero right here:
Dark Void Zero will make its DSiWare debut in January for 500 DSi Points ($5) coinciding with Dark Void's PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 release on January 19.
