Microsoft has announced more details on the Xbox Live Game Room and revealed the first trailer for the service after announcing it during their CES 2010 keynote speech last night.
The Game Room concept and games were developed by Krome Studios, the Australian studio responsible for Viva Pinata: Party Animals, among other games. The Game Room software will be a free download through Xbox Live or Games For Windows Live while the games will be priced at 240 Microsoft Points (AKA $3 and for play on one platform) or 400 Microsoft Points (AKA $5 and for play on both platforms). Gamers will also get the option to buy virtual quarters for 40 Microsoft Points to get two credits worth of playtime on the game of their choice.
Aside from a new pricing scheme and the Game Room front end, the game will feature all of the familiar trappings of Xbox Live Arcade games. For example... "Challenge friends to beat your high score by sending custom challenges and taunts across platforms, earn Achievements, unlock levels and climb your way to the top of universal leader boards. Compete in ranked mode, in which you play against other Xbox Live members on the world leader board, or challenge mode, in which you take turns playing a game."
So what games will be available for purchase in the Game Room? The service's debut trailer named all thirty titles that will be available when the Game Room launches this Spring. And they are...
