News: And it might be playable at E3, but it might not be released this year.
The next Legend of Zelda game is supposedly less than a year away and it's still shrouded in mystery. Thankfully, Andriasang has posted a summary of an interview between Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu and the game's producer, Eiji Aonuma, that should shed a little more light on the still untitled Wii game.
According to Aonuma, he and his team would like to bring a playable version of the game to this year's E3, which will be held from June 15-17. While that's great news, the producer wouldn't commit to a release date, only saying "We'll work hard in order to get you playing it as soon as possible." Nintendo had said in the past the game could be released in 2010, but every interview related to the game seems to put that date further in doubt.
However, the big news to come out of the interview was confirmation that the next Zelda game will require the Wii MotionPlus add-on. When Aonuma and Shigeru Miyamoto had previously discussed the title, they mentioned that they would like to include MotionPlus support in some way, but this is the first time they've said that players will need the controller dongle the next time they travel to Hyrule.
"After actually making it compatible," Aonuma said, "it just feels so natural. Link's sword and the controller that you're holding become one."
We'll definitely have more soon.
