News: PD XBLA is shaping up to be the best $10 you will ever spend.
Rare's Xbox Live Arcade recreation of
Perfect Dark just keeps getting better and better.
Ken Lobb of Microsoft Game Studios has told
Kotaku that the game's multiplayer mode will include weapons and levels from Rare's other Nintendo 64 FPS masterpiece,
GoldenEye.
Of course, a wide variety of weapons from GoldenEye made the jump to Perfect Dark when it was originally released on the N64. Most famously, the Golden Gun, under the name DY357-LX Magnum, made a return appearance to ensure no one lived twice. Other Perfect Dark weaponry (and their GoldenEye counterparts) included the PP9i (PP7), CC13 (DD44 Dostovei), KLO1313 (Klobb), KF7 Special (KF7 Soviet), ZZT (ZMG), DMC (DK5 Deutsche), AR53 (AR33) and the unstoppable RC-P45/RC-P120 (RC-P90). The various mines (Proximinity, Timed, Remote) were also included unchanged in Perfect Dark.
While unsaid in the Kotaku article, it's likely the original GoldenEye guns will be included along with their futuristic Perfect Dark dopplegangers. Otherwise, why would this be news?
Lobb, whose name was the inspiration for the Klobb, also confirmed that multiplayer levels from GoldenEye's revolutionary multiplayer mode will be included in the XBLA edition of Perfect Dark. Presumably, this would be on top of the Complex, Facility (AKA the Felicity) and Temple levels that were already a part of the game.
Perfect Dark will be added to the XBLA in March as part of Microsoft's "Block Party" promotion for a price of 800 Microsoft Points ($10). Which is starting to look more and more like a steal everyday.
We'll have more soon.
