News: But does it really?
On the eve of the release of one of the PlayStation 3's biggest exclusives, Microsoft has thrown down the gauntlet and stated the Xbox 360 is actually the platform with the most exclusives.
"There's no other platform that offers more exclusives," Microsoft's Aaron Greenberg told Official Xbox Magazine last week. He continued by saying:
"Obviously there are going to be great games on the PlayStation 3, and we respect that, but our goal is to have the most blockbuster titles and the most exclusives and I think we clearly have that this year."
Is Greenberg right? We discontinued our series
comparing the exclusives on each platform in 2009, but at that time, the Wii had a commanding lead when it came to exclusives compared to the two high definition consoles.
But taking Greenberg at his word and comparing console exclusives between the PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2010, we come up with the following list of titles released in January and February:
Xbox 360
Blood Bowl
Deadly Premonition
Divinity II: Ego Draconis
Mass Effect 2
Risen
Tropico 3
World of Outlaws: Sprint Cars
PlayStation 3
Heavy Rain
Last Rebellion
MAG
White Knight Chronicles
For the first two months of 2010, it appears that Greenberg is right. But will that advantage hold up during the rest of the year? With Halo: Reach, Fable III, Alan Wake, Crackdown 2 and Splinter Cell: Conviction, it seems likely, but you never know.
We'll have more on all things exclusive soon.
