News: Don't throw away your skateboard peripherals just yet.
A spokesman for Robomodo has confirmed with Develop magazine that the company is hard at work on Tony Hawk: Ride 2 for Activision. Not only that, but Robomodo is one of the few game company's who are expanding right now, as they also told Develop that they've hired a "string of new hires" to work on Ride 2.
The developer also created last year's Tony Hawk: Ride, the first game in the series to use a Wii Balance Board-like skateboard peripheral.
Executives at Activision have previously confirmed the sequel would be out in 2010, with a renewed focus on the quality of the game now that the skateboard peripheral has been "optimized":
"Game ratings for Tony Hawk Ride weren't as high as we would have hoped last year. And in hindsight, it took longer to optimize the hardware leaving less time to develop the software we launched in 2009," Michael Griffith, CEO of Activision Publishing said a few weeks back. "Still, play testing and consumer feedback have been very encouraging. The premise of standing on the skateboard and performing tricks that only the pros can pull off is very compelling. This year, with the hardware complete, we'll be focusing on improving the software in order to unlock the full potential of the board."
We'll have more soon.
