First MAG DLC pack will be free, available March 25 @ Gaming Target

News: Free flashbangs for all!

Even though they're hard at work on the PlayStation Move-enabled SOCOM 4, Zipper Interactive has big plans for downloadable content for their January release, MAG.

According to Jeremy Dunham (via the PlayStation.Blog), Zipper's Community Manager, the first MAG DLC pack will be released next Thursday, March 25. Best of all, the Trooper Gear Pack, as it's known, will be available to download for free. More DLC packs will follow in the coming months, but Zipper didn't reveal if they would be free as well.

As for the Trooper Gear Pack, it will include the following items:

Flashbang Grenades that can be used "to confuse, disorient or distract your enemies in a single throw."

Light Machine Guns: "Raven's APEX 100SE, SVER's RTK-74 Vla, and Valor's Mk 46 Mod 1 weapons will provide both a new look [...] and a number of performance adjustments as well."

"Trooper Dark" and "Trooper Light" Uniform Designs: "[T]hese uniforms are specifically designed for urban and interior combat situations and give you two more aesthetic options to diversify your character with."

In celebration of the release of the Trooper Gear Pack, Sony and Zipper will be offering a Double XP weekend for all online players beginning Thursday, March 25 at 12 AM (Pacific Time) and lasting until 11:59 PM (Pacific Time) on Sunday, March 28.
