News: Use your USB drives to store your Xbox 360 demos now.
Major Nelson has let Xbox 360 owners know that they may now use USB drives to store all of their Xbox 360-related downloads and game saves.
After installing the mandatory update, users may insert a USB drive of up to 16GB and configure it for use with the Xbox 360. Any drive larger than that maximum size will be capped to 16GB. After configuring a USB drive for use with the Xbox 360, it will not be able to be used on a PC or Mac. Gamers will be able to specify how much of a drive they want to devote to Xbox 360-exclusive space during the setup process.
If you'd prefer to use a pre-configured USB drive, Microsoft has teamed up with Sandisk to sell 8GB Xbox 360-branded USB drives. They'll be available in May and, if Microsoft's hard drive pricing is anything to go by, will likely cost a lot more than a comparable non-configured drive.
We'll have more soon.
