News: And the DLC won't continue Alan Wake's main storyline.

Daniel Maher, the British Major Nelson, has revealed (through his Twitter feed) that the first downloadable episode for Alan Wake will be available on July 28.

Gamers who purchase Alan Wake will be able to download the episode for no charge thanks to a download token which will be packaged with the game. Microsoft presumably plans to charge for all subsequent episodes, but nothing official has been announced.

What has been revealed is that the DLC won't continue the main storyline from Alan Wake. Speaking to CVG, Remedy Entertainment has said that the DLC will serve as a bridge between "season one" (Alan Wake) and "season two" (the currently unannounced Alan Wake 2).

"We are doing some game add-ons like we've announced. These will be standalone episodes that will bridge between season one and hopefully the possibility of doing a season two," Remedy's Oskari Hakkinen said.

He continued: "The game add-ons aren't telling more of the story, so to speak. It'll give you a different perspective on the things you've done on season one and then trying to set you up for the possible things you're going to do in season two."

We'll have more soon.
