News: But all the little green pieces of paper with Mr. Jackson on them could have told you that.
The final day of Comic-Con held a bunch of surprises, however, this is not one of them. During the "Halo Universe" panel, Frank O'Connor of 343 Industries (the Microsoft team in charge of all things
Halo) confirmed that the Master Chief will return sometime in the future. As if the billions generated by the series didn't already guarantee that.
O'Connor rather colorfully remarked: "We'd have to be the world's biggest assholes not to follow through [on the end of
Halo 3]. We certainly haven't seen the last of Master Chief."
This is all old news for anyone that's been following 343's hiring practices over the last few months. The developer has posted a flurry of help wanted ads looking for people interested in "being part of the creation of a new game in the Halo universe." However, it should be noted that this is the first public mention of the 343 Industries game by a Microsoft executive.
Halo: Reach, the final game in the series to be developed by Bungie, will be released for the Xbox 360 on September 14.
We'll have more soon.
