News: But all the little green pieces of paper with Mr. Jackson on them could have told you that.
The final day of Comic-Con held a bunch of surprises, however, this is not one of them. During the "Halo Universe" panel, Frank O'Connor of 343 Industries (the Microsoft team in charge of all things Halo
) confirmed that the Master Chief will return sometime in the future. As if the billions generated by the series didn't already guarantee that.
O'Connor rather colorfully remarked: "We'd have to be the world's biggest assholes not to follow through [on the end of Halo 3
]. We certainly haven't seen the last of Master Chief."
This is all old news for anyone that's been following 343's hiring practices over the last few months. The developer has posted a flurry of help wanted ads looking for people interested in "being part of the creation of a new game in the Halo universe." However, it should be noted that this is the first public mention of the 343 Industries game by a Microsoft executive.
, the final game in the series to be developed by Bungie, will be released for the Xbox 360 on September 14.
We'll have more soon.
