News: Please let this be the return of Total Overdose.

Siliconera is reporting that Square Enix has registered a trademark for Gun Loco in Europe. While this is no guarantee that the company is creating a game by that name, it does raise an interesting question.

And that question is... Is Gun Loco a sequel to the totally underrated Total Overrdose?

Total Overrdose was developed by Deadline Games and released for the PC, PS2 and Xbox in 2005. The game was a Grand Theft Auto-like romp through the Mexican drug trade in which players took on the role of gunslinging DEA agent "Ram" Cruz. it was ridiculously over-the-top and definitely a forgotten classic.

The game was published by Eidos Interactive, which as we all know, is now the property of Square Enix. For further proof, the game even featured wild special moves known as "Loco Moves."

Deadline Games went bankrupt in 2009, but here's hoping their greatest creation lives on in Gun Loco.
