News: Your Xbox Live Gold account will now cost $60 a year.
Microsoft has announced (via Major Nelson) that Xbox Live Gold subscriptions will be going up on November 1.
Currently, gamers can get a one month card for $7.99, a three month card for $19.99 and a 12 month card for $49.99. On the first of November, those prices will go up to $9.99, $24.99 and $59.99, respectively. Xbox Live subscriptions in Great Britain, Canada and Mexico are also scheduled to be hit with price increases on November 1.
Thankfully, a variety of online retailers have come to the rescue. Amazon has marked down 12-Month Gold Cards to a much more manageable $39.94. Buy.com and Newegg have followed suit while Target is offering their 12-Month Gold Cards for $44.99. Get 'em now before they're gone.
Microsoft themselves is running a promotion to allow current Xbox Live Gold subscribers to lock in their subscription for another year for $39.99 as well. But it almost seems like a slap in the face when the promtion is being advertised with a slogan like this: "Take advantage of limited-time savings. Act now to save on Xbox Live gold before the price goes up."
We'll have more soon.
