News: The backlash begins next week.

Sonic the Hedgehog and his asphalt-melting red sneakers will streak onto the various download services in October, according to IGN.

Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode I will begin its launch tour with a stop on the iTunes App Store on October 7, followed by an appearance on the Wii Shop Channel on October 11, the PlayStation Network on October 12 and, finally, the Xbox Live Arcade on October 13. A price was not announced for the iTunes version, but the console version will be available to download for 1500 Wii Points/$14.99/1200 Microsoft Points.

We'll have more soon.
