News: See, he's a pitcher who's also a pitchman.

In a few hours, Roy Halladay is expected to be honored as the National League's Cy Young Award winner for 2010. But the Philadelphia Phillies pitcher was awarded a second honor today as well: cover athlete for Major League Baseball 2K11.

Publisher 2K Sports and developer Visual Concepts plans to bring their annual baseball video game franchise to the PC, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, PSP, Wii and Xbox 360 in Spring 2011. Like the crafty Halladay, 2K didn't tip their pitch when it comes to any other information about the next entry in the series. But they did gush about how Halladay is the perfect spokesman for their game:

УIn the СYear of the Pitcher', Roy has truly distinguished himself as the best pitcher in baseball,Ф said Greg Thomas, senior vice president of sports development for 2K. УBetween his dominating season that included baseball's 20th perfect game, and his exciting performance during the postseason, we believe there is no player more worthy of representing our revolutionary pitching mechanic on the cover of Major League Baseball 2K11 than Roy Halladay.Ф

With Halladay's perfect game in May and postseason no-hitter, he became the first pitcher in nearly 40 years to throw two no-hitters in a single season. His selection as MLB 2K11's cover athlete was just as obvious as the 1999 Hall of Fame selection of the last man to do that, Nolan Ryan.
