News: VU Games signs 50 to a video game. Heaven help us.
Vivendi Universal Games has announced that they have signed a deal with rapper 50 Cent to produce and star in a new game entitled 50 Cent: Bulletproof.
According to Vivendi, 50 will "get caught in a web of corruption, double-crosses and shady deals that lead him on a bloody path through New York's drug underworld." These dirty dealings will then lead our hero to "take on the most dangerous crime families in the city, uncovering an international conspiracy with devastating implications." And of course the tagline: "The streets are watching as 50 Cent blasts his way to the truth."
"In everything I do, I play to win," said 50 Cent. "I'm out to destroy the competition and my video game is no different. It's a fantasy version of my life. I plan to shake up the video game world like I did the rap world Ц I'm pulling no punches with my game."
"50 Cent is one of the most talented artists in the recording industry with legions of fans around the world. Everything he touches turns to gold Ц music, movies, clothes, cars, watches," said Bruce Hack, CEO of Vivendi Universal Games. "We are thrilled to collaborate with 50 Cent and Interscope Records in a video game debut that will deliver extraordinary music, exciting game play, and best of all, 50 Cent."
Vivendi has unveiled an official website for the game: http://www.the50centgame.com/, which right now only holds a shot of 50's face and a mailing list for future updates.
Bulletproof will be feature a script from Terry Winter, who also penned the script for the upcoming 50 Cent movie, Get Rich or Die Tryin'.
Which consoles this game will appear on are currently up in the air, but I'd say its safe to say the GameCube is out. Vivendi has promised to reveal more about the game at this year's E3 and is shooting for a late 2005 release.
We at Gaming Target will leave you with these four screens, maybe renders, of 50 doing his thing.
