News: And1 Mix Tape Tour coming to an Xbox or PS2 near you courtesy of Ubisoft.
Ubisoft has added another sports license to their new stable of sports game yesterday when they signed a deal with And1 to create an And1 branded basketball game.
The And1 game will be based around the Mix Tape Tour that And1 puts on every summer and broadcasts on ESPN. The tour features such players as The Professor, Spyda, Half Man-Half Amazing, AO, Sik wit It, Main Event and others who were last featured in Activision's Street Hoops in 2002.
"We are excited to be collaborating with Ubisoft to make a game inspired by the AND 1 Mix Tape Tour," said Ron Skotarczak, vice president of marketing and entertainment at AND 1. "We are looking forward to working together to create a franchise that captures the spirit of what the AND 1 brand represents Ц authenticity, attitude and performance."
"Ubisoft is thrilled to be adding the AND 1 license to its line-up of sports videogames," said Laurent Detoc, president of Ubisoft North America. "The strength of the AND 1 brand and the creativity Ubisoft brings to the table make this agreement exciting news for the sports genre."
Yesterday the release date, title and platforms the And1 game might have come out on were a mystery. Today, after Ubisoft's huge release list was revealed, we know the game will simply be titled And1 and it will be coming to the PS2 and Xbox sometime before the holidays.
We'll keep you posted.
