News: Gumby VS the Astrobots is coming this August.

A while back Namco announced that they had acquired the license to make video games based on the popular TV show Gumby. My friends, the day we get to see that game is finally here.

Gumby Vs the Astrobots is scheduled for an August on the Game Boy Advance. Like nearly every episode of the TV show, Gumby is squaring off against his arch-nemeses, the Blockheads.

The Blockheads have used the Astrobots to kidnap Gumby's friends Pokey, Prickle and Goo. Naturally, Gumby will use his clay morphing skills in levels like the Old West, North Pole and Planet Astrobot to get his friends back. Namco has also said that "classic voices, visual and FX will come straight from the series."

"With innovative clay animation style gameplay, a complete selection of beloved characters and an original storyline, Gumby vs. the Astrobots is the game Gumby fans have been waiting for," said Jeff Lujan, Business Director at Namco Hometek. "The game's release this August will commemorate Gumby's 50th anniversary and for the first time, give fans the chance to bend, twist and bounce like their favorite green friend in video game form."
