It looks like Microsoft has the upper hand in the continuing game of leap frog they and Sony are playing about the debut of their respective next-generation hardware. Today, Microsoft announced that the Xbox Next (still officially unnamed) would debut on an MTV special entitled "MTV Presents: The Next Generation Xbox Revealed". It will be a half hour special and air Thursday May 12 at 9:30 PM EDT.
The special will be hosted by the geek poster child, Elijah Wood and feature musical performances (multiple, with an S) from The Killers. Backstage interviews with celebrities, making of footage of the system, a look at the new Xbox Live and "never-before-seen, action-packed gameplay of future Xbox games" will round out the half hour. With all of these segments let's cross our fingers that we get to see more than a few minutes of gameplay footage or the system itself.
