News: EB Games has opened up official pre-orders... And you thought Microsoft's prices were bad.

With the prices set in stone, EB Games has finally opened up the official pre-orders to their customers. Get your checkbook ready.

The Ultimate Bundle, which retails for $699.92 (plus shipping), includes:

  • Xbox 360 System
  • Perfect Dark Zero: Limited Edition
  • Dead or Alive 4
  • Kameo: Elements of Power
  • Project Gotham Racing 3
  • Extra Wireless Controller
  • Play & Charge Kit
  • Rechargeable Battery Pack

For the more price weary consumer, there's the Core Bundle. The Core Bundle will retail for $599.93 (plus shipping) and includes:

  • Xbox 360 Core System
  • Perfect Dark Zero: Limited Edition
  • Dead or Alive 4
  • Kameo: Elements of Power
  • Project Gotham Racing 3
  • Extra Wired Controller
  • Memory Unit

EB Games also notes that the Xbox 360 Core System will not include the hard drive that is required to play original Xbox games. It should be noted that Microsoft hasn't confirmed one way or the other how backwards compatibility will work. But the "no hard drive/no backwards compatibility" argument seems to be gaining ground in the public consciousness.

So early adopters, if your wallet is starting to feel a little light, that's because it is. And to all the math majors out there, these bundles do not include any discounts at all. The final price was determined by adding all of the MSRPs of the included items.

But I guess the bottom line is, if you want an Xbox 360 at launch, it's gonna cost you. Big.
