News: No one's been able to play it yet, but it's coming.
A Sony spokesman spoke to Reuters yesterday and confirmed that the PlayStation 3 is still on track for a Spring 2006 release. In addition to its gaming prowess, a spring release would position it as the first mass market Blu-Ray movie player.
Since debuting at E3 this year, Sony has only revealed glimpses of the software in the form of movie clips that may or may not have been pre-rendered. If it really does launch in the Spring it will be the first console ever to not feature playable content at an E3 event before its release.
Needless to say, I won't be cuing up my copy of Grant-Lee Phillips "Spring Released" just yet.
