News: It is a good day for DS fans everywhere.
Long ago, when the first black and white Game Boy rolled off the production line, Nintendo needed to figure out how to sell their new marvel. Their solution was to package it with a new puzzle game called Tetris. And the Game Boy has been firmly entrenched atop the handheld heap ever since.
So now we come to a new age of handhelds and Nintendo has turned to an old favorite to make a new system even more complete. Tetris DS will be coming to the DS on March 20 with full Wi-Fi Connection capabilities.
Yes, you read that right. Online Tetris with you and three other players whereever a wireless connection is available to you.
But that's not all. This Tetris brings something new to the table with the DS stylus, or in Nintendo's words: "combining the original game with new types of game play that could only be possible on Nintendo DS."
There will be six game modes, each with a special theme based off of a classic Nintendo franchise (so far Mario, Metroid and Zelda have been confirmed). Nintendo is playing it tight to the chest about exactly what these modes are, but one was said to feature "special Tetris puzzles". Not exactly helpful.
But we do know that Tetris DS will include a Battle Mode for 2 to 10 players that only requires one person to own the game. Each player will also get a score and a ranking to go along with their battle performance to show to the world who is most in tune with their Tetris zen.
Once again. Tetris DS. March 20. Four player online. Ten player local. Got that?
