News: "I'm Tony Montana! You f*** with me, you f***in' with the best!" Coming to game consoles near you soon with the first details inside.
This little thing of ours just got a lot bigger as Vivendi Universal has announced that they are bringing Tony "Scarface" Montana to the video game world.
Scarface is currently scheduled for a Fall 2005 release on unnamed "game consoles". And that's multiple consoles, with an S. If I were a betting man, and given Vivendi's track record, I would say a PS2 release is 99% guaranteed with the Xbox a likely destination as well while a GameCube release is probably doubtful but not impossible.
"Scarface was a landmark film and has inspired countless movies and games," said Bill Kispert, vice president of Interactive at Universal Studios Consumer Products Group. "Having the chance to now bring gamers the authentic experience is an opportunity and challenge we are looking forward to."
Scarface will be a third person shooter which will be set in Miami, the Florida Keys, the Bahamas and other locales from the movie. The game's storyline will be written by David McKenna (the screenwriter of Blow and American History X among others) and development will be done by Canada's Radical Entertainment. Radical has worked with VU Games several times before, most notably on Simpsons: Road Rage and Simpsons: Hit and Run.
With EA's Godfather adaptation and Acclaim's Interview With a Made Man, 2005 will be abusy year for organized crime. Johnny Tightlips had his head around the rest of the news about Scarface at this time. But in this country you gotta wait for the news first. Then when you get the news, you get the power. Then when you get the power, then you get the women.
