News: The world has become a very different place since DNF was announced.
I spotted this at Kotaku yesterday and it's too good not to share with everyone.
Duke Nukem Forever was announced on April 25, 1997. Even with 2K's promise of an extra $500,000 if 3D Realms can deliver the game by the end of the year, a decade in development looks extremely likely.
So what's a Duke fanboy to do? Why, create the Duke Nukem Forever List of course.
The list is a collection of things that has happened in the nine years plus that DNF has been in development. Here's are some of the highlights.
Since Duke Nukem Forever was announced...
Over 75 games based in the Mega Man universe, and 12 games featuring Mega Man universe character cameos.
Every Grand Theft Auto game has been released.
Britney Spears' entire musical career as a pop star
The U.S.S. Ronald Reagan (the largest nuclear-powered aircraft carrier in the world) was in contract, built, launched, comissioned, and began active duty.
While those things are notable, I think this is the most telling stat. DNF's nine year development cycle is more time than "the United States' entire program to put a man on the moon, from Kennedy's challenge to the landing."
Wow. Be sure to hit the link for the full list. It's worth a read.
