News: We finally know when Street Fighter II is coming out.

Gamers that have been waiting patiently for a release date for Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting will have to wait no longer. Today, Microsoft revealed Xbox Live Arcade Wednesdays, a plan to release a new Live Arcade title every Wednesday for the next five weeks. I guess that's one way to help with the lack of new games available this summer.

The program starts today, with the release of Frogger, and will go until August 9. And yes, Street Fighter II is included in this promotion and will be released on August 2. Here's the full schedule:

July 12 Ц Frogger (400 Points)
July 19 Ц Cloning Clyde (800 Points)
July 26 Ц Galaga (400 Points)
August 2 Ц Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting (800 Points)
August 9 Ц Pac-Man (400 Points)

Frogger will not just be a simple port of the arcade classic however. It will sport some new features including:

  • Enhanced artwork and backdrops; players can now choose to play the original arcade classic graphics or the new enhanced graphics
  • Fresh soundtrack and upgraded sounds effects
  • New Xbox Live Arcade split screen multiplayer modes
  • Addictive new Co-op vs Speed, and Head-to-Head Modes

All five games will be released worldwide on their release dates at midnight Pacific Time.

Microsoft was also confirmed to say that while they don't have a plan for Live Arcade beyond August 9, all Live Arcade games will release on Wednesdays from now on.
