News: More TR games are coming soon (including a version for the PS3). Aren't you shocked?
SCi Entertainment, the parent company of Eidos Interactive, issued a very encouraging financial report yesterday.
According to the report, SCi earned a profit of г8.1 million (about $15 million) in the last year. This was mostly because Tomb Raider: Legend had a great year, selling 2.9 million copies across all platforms (PC, PS2, PSP, Xbox and Xbox 360). SCi also reconfirmed that the game will be coming to the DS, GBA and GameCube sometime in their 2007 financial year (Oct 1, 2006 - Sept 30, 2007).
SCi made another mention of Tomb Raider: Tenth Anniversary Edition (PS2, PSP, PC) as well and said it should be ready sometime in spring or summer of 2007. Of course, the tenth anniversary of Lara's first adventure would be this year, so SCi called it the "Anniversary Edition" instead of the "Tenth Anniversary Edition" like they had been previously. But 11 is a special year too.
SCi is also already planning their 2008 financial year (Oct 1, 2007 - Sept 30, 2008) slate of games. It will include original titles from IO Interactive and Crystal Dynamics, "new versions of key franchises", and the biggie, Tomb Raider 8. The series will be coming to the PS3 for the first time although the game will not be an exclusive. Considering Legend's multiplatform success, this isn't really a surprise.
We'll have more on everything Eidos/SCi soon.
