News: Popular anime is ready to invade America further.
Sega has announced they will be bringing games based on the popular anime Bleach to American Wiis and DSes in early 2008.
The Wii will receive Bleach: Shattered Blade, a sword-heavy fighting game that includes 32 characters from the anime along with their voice actors. While Shattered Blade will follow the Bleach story, it will feature a new storyline created exclusively for the game. Branching plotpoints that change depending on the character a player selects are being created to enhance the game's replay value.
Players will use the Wii Remote and Nunchuk as their weapons which will be needed for all of the "slashing, jabbing, and lunging in furious battles like a real Soul Reaper."
The DS version, Bleach: The Blade of Fate, will be a 2D fighter developed by Treasure, the kings of 2D. The portable rendition will include 28 characters and a Fatal Fury-like "split-plane" battlefield that will allow players to evade their opponents in an upper or lower level.
The Blade of Fate will also include "Spirit Cards" that can called upon to change the flow of battle and multiplayer combat over the DS' Wi-Fi.
But what is Bleach? For those unfamiliar with the story, we have the following summary: "The Bleach storyline follows fifteen-year-old Ichigo Kurosaki who has the power to see spirits from the afterlife, including warriors known as Soul Reapers. The Soul Reapers are tasked with defending humans from otherworldly beings called Hollows. One fateful day, Ichigo meets Rukia, a Soul Reaper who lends him her powers after she's injured by a Hollow. In the game, players will progress through an exciting storyline facing increasingly difficult opponents in their quest to uncover the truth."
We'll have more on both Bleach games soon.
