News: The PS2 is still alive and kicking into 2008.
It looks like the PlayStation 2 will have plenty of new titles available in 2008 (the system's ninth year on the market) as Southpeak Interactive has announced they will be bringing Iridium Runners to the PS2 in February 2008. The game is being developed by the Italian studio Playstos Entertainment.
Iridium Runners takes place in the year 2050 and involves a futuristic foot race where the contestants attempt to murder each other while racing for the finish line. "Wildly inventive tracks, collectable power-ups and weapons" make each race unique and, just like with the rabbit and the hare, ensure that the fastest is not always the winner.
Melanie Mroz, Executive Vice President, SouthPeak Games comments УIridium Runners is another example of the fun, distinctive and unique titles that we look to publish. The PlayStation 2 market is still thriving and Iridium Runners will represent great value for money, thanks in no small part to the team at Playstos.Ф
The game will also include a multiplayer splitscreen mode that features "two teams with two players each, with each team having to balance racing for the finish line with hampering the efforts of their opponents by making good use of all the available collectables."
We'll have more on Iridium Runners soon.
