News: Gaming legend Tim Schafer reveals his next project.

Tim Schafer and Sierra Entertainment have officially announced the next game from Schafer's Double Fine Productions today, Brutal Legend. The game will be coming to the PS3 and Xbox 360 sometime in 2008.

Brutal Legend will be a comical adventure story of a time-travelling roadie named Eddie Riggs. Riggs has been transported back to the Age of Metal and he must use all of his roadie skills to command a "barbaric mob of demons, dragsters, amp stacks, leather, and chrome" in an apocalyptic battle. No word on whether Bill, Ted or Ash will be around to offer their expertise from their familar experiences.

Like Pasychonauts, Schafer's last game, Brutal Legend will feature a fantastically unique world full of images never before seen in a video game:

Piecing the period of time when a divine society used raw materials of ROCK and hot rods which lay dormant in this land, experts at Double Fine also revealed the fantastic nature of this world where Big-block V8 engines were dug out of the ground like minerals. Exhaust pipes were cut from trees made of chrome and a luminous sky was lit up with heavenly lighters held up by the gods.

We'll have more on Brutal Legend soon.
