News: A whole lotta devlopment going on.

Several new game studios have set up shop today as Ignition and Take Two have announced the formation of three new studios.

Ignition has announced that they are opening new studios in Tokyo and Florida. Ignition Tokyo and Ignition Florida have been founded specifically to create new franchises on next-generation systems.

УThis is an important time for us. With the addition of these new studios we will increase our capacity for producing original product,Ф said Vijay Chadha, Ignition Entertainment CEO and co-founder. УThe opening of both Ignition Florida and Tokyo is a stepping stone to building a stronger and more focused development group. These studios are an important addition to the company and will be a solid foundation on which future plans will be built.Ф

Meanwhile, Take Two has a new next-gen development house of their own. 2K Marin (California) will create new franchises for next-generation consoles while also working with other 2K studios to co-develop titles.

"We're focused on continuing to bring new brands and cutting-edge gameplay to market with the creation of the 2K Marin studio," said Christoph Hartmann, President of 2K. "2K Marin will build upon our success in creating and leveraging AAA franchises."

Neither company revealed what specific projects these new studios would be working on, but we'll keep you posted.
