News: The Immortal Game has been immortalized on Facebook.
About a month ago, Hasbro sent a cease and desist letter to Facebook and the Agarwalla brothers asking that the social network's most popular game, Scrabulous, be shut down. The game is a thinly veiled clone of Hasbro's popular board game Scrabble, but as of today, Facebook has yet to pull the plug.
But over the weekend, the Agarwalla brothers, Rajat and Jayant, revealed their newest project: the Facebook application Chess Pro.
Unlike Scrabble, the great game of Chess is firmly in the public domain, having been invented sometime in the late 15th century. So Facebook and the brothers are in the clear legally speaking.
Chess Pro uses the same interface as Scrabulous, except with a chess board substituted in for a Scrabble-like board.
It is easy to pick up and play and the brothers have hinted that computer-controlled opponents may be added to the application soon.
