News: No more disc swapping.
Game Almighty has done a little digging and gotten in touch with a Konami PR representative to confirm that the version of Metal Gear Solid that will appear in the upcoming Essential Collection will be on a PS2 disc.
What this means is that the game will retain the PSone-era visuals, but now the game will come on one DVD instead of two CD-ROMs, so there won't be a need for disc swapping halfway through. Essential Collection owners also won't have to worry about finding a working PSone memory card, as now a PS2 one will work fine with Snake's first 3D adventure.
Any other PS2-specific enhancements seem unlikely at this point.
Metal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection will be released on March 18 for a price of $29.99.
