News: No Gamerpoints for you!

Microsoft has announced that they will begin cracking down on gamers who "gain achievements through avoiding game play and the use of external tools."

All of the details are available at Xbox.com, but it looks like the plan to punish cheaters involves three steps:

1. The cheater's Gamerscore is reset to zero.
2. The cheater will be unable to earn the points from those Achievements ever again.
3. Their Gamertag will be tagged with a "Cheater" label, or a scarlet letter for the digital age.

Cheaters will still be able to earn future Achievements by not cheating, but according to Microsoft, if your Gamerscore gets zeroed, there is no chance for an appeal.

So if you're a cheater, your days are numbered. And if you're not, get ready to laugh at all the cheaters who will come out of the woodwork whining about how "they never cheated and Microsoft is wrong!"

Sure they are. Sure they are.
