News: And it's not based on The Dark Knight at all.

Game Informer has revealed that their September issue will include the first details of the next Batman game, Batman: Arkham Asylum. Batman: Arkham Asylum will be developed by Rocksteady Games (who previously worked on Urban Chaos: Riot Response) and will be published by Eidos Interactive (in collaboration with Warner Bros Interactive).

Little is known about the game so far (even which platforms it will appear on), but the Game Informer website did say that The Joker sabotages a prison transfer and lures Batman into a battle against "an army of his worst enemies." The game will be written by Paul Dini, who was the mastermind behind Batman: The Animated Series. An episode of that show written by Dini titled "The Trial" also featured Batman trapped in Arkham because of The Joker.

Batman: Arkham Asylum is not related in any way to The Dark Knight, as Electronic Arts holds the rights to create games based on the film series. There are rumors that a game based on The Dark Knight is also in development, but EA has never made any official mention of the game.
