News: Individual games announced based on each playable race.

ShackNews has a report from Blizzard's BlizzCon 2008 event that reveals that the company's upcoming Starcraft 2 will be released as three different games.

Each game will follow one of the game's playable races as the games will be Starcraft 2 Terrans: Wings of Liberty, Starcraft 2 Zerg: Heart of the Swarm, and Starcraft 2 Protoss: Legacy of the Void. It is currently unknown if all three games will be released simultaneously or if the releases will be staggered.

According to the ShackNews article, the games will each be receiving exclusive content and the storylines in each will beefed up to justify separate games:

Each campaign will be very different, with Pardo announcing the Zerg campaign will contain RPG elements. The Protoss campaigin will likewise be differentiated by elements of diplomacy. In addition, the Terran campaign will feature a Protoss mini-campaign.

The campaigns are planned as concentrated, epic storylines, with enough content to justify a full release. As a result, the games will now feature more in-game cinematics and story content.

We'll have more soon.
