News: Free is a wonderful word.

December will be a good month for owners of Square-Enix' Xbox 360 RPG The Last Remnant. The company has announced they have four downloadable content packs planned for release during the month and the best part is that three of them will be absolutely free.

Here are the details on all four packs:

Challenge Pack 1 - "Purgatory's Sins": Level up your game with this pack of ultra-challenging guild tasks. Adequate game progression is necessary. (Free)
Release Date: 12/1/08 (XBL Gold), 12/8/08 (XBL Silver)

"The Key of Ancient Ruins": Unlock the gates to the Ancient Ruins with this key, and discover what mysteries lie within its crumbling depths. (Free)
Release Date: 12/1/08 (XBL Gold), 12/8/08 (XBL Silver)

"March to War Set": Three special unlockable formations (Scatterswarm, Goblet and Catapult) that will boost your tactical strength during battle. (100 Microsoft Points)
Release Date: 12/15/08

Challenge Pack 2 - "The Price of Lies": Add this pack of the most difficult guild tasks yet. Adequate game progression is necessary. (Free)
Release Date: 12/22/08 (XBL Gold), 12/29/08 (XBL Silver)

Leaked Black Friday circulars point to big discounts for The Last Remnant this weekend. It looks like Square-Enix just gave us another good reason to buy it.
