News: But possibly not as Fatal Frame IV.
Fatal Frame IV, the Wii-exclusive sequel to the popular horror series, has been the subject of much speculation since its surprise release in Japan last Summer. Developed by Goichi Suda's Grasshopper Manufacture and published by Nintendo in Japan, the game has yet to be given an American release date.
However, that may change soon. The first bit of proof is that the game will be released in Europe in February as
Fatal Frame IV: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse. Then, Ken Berry, head of Marketing and Business Development at XSEED,
said that Fatal Frame IV is coming to America in 2009, but it won't be published by XSEED.
Now, Gaming Target has recently heard from a video game industry analyst (who wishes to remain nameless) that Fatal Frame IV is coming to America in 2009, but it may not be released as "Fatal Frame IV." Why any publisher would throw away the cult of popularity the series has gained over the years is questionable, but the desire to start fresh, and make Fatal Frame more than a cult series, could be the impetus behind that decision.
We'll have more on Fatal Frame IV (in whatever form it takes) soon. In the meantime, be sure to check out our analysis of the exclusive releases of 2009 for each console in our
