News: Microsoft moves the Halo series out of the FPS realm with Halo Wars this week.

Spring is metaphorically in the air (not physically obviously, because it is still way too cold outside) as Sony and 2K Games plan to release their 2009 baseball games next week. Sony's MLB 09: The Show will, as usual, be released on every PlayStation platform: PS2, PS3 and PSP. While 2K's Major League Baseball 2K9 will be released on the DS, PC, PS2, PS3, Wii and Xbox 360.

This week also mark Microsoft's first foray into a Halo spinoff with the release of Halo Wars for the Xbox 360.

A bunch of other new releases should be of interest to a variety of gamers including the retro game parody Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard (PS3, Xbox 360), the wartime strategy game Empire: Total War (PC) and Tom Clancy's HAWX (PC, PS3, Xbox 360), the first Tom Clancy game to take to the skies.

Another first comes from PopCap as they bring their addictive puzzle game Peggle: Dual Shot to the DS for the first time while a second comes from Sega as Sonic and the Black Knight (Wii) becomes the second game in the "Sonic Storybook" series.

Here's the full list of the rest of the new releases.
