News: Darkside Chronicles confirmed along with remakes of Resident Evil and RE Zero.
Following up on the Famitsu Weekly report from yesterday, Capcom has confirmed that Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles, the sequel to Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles, will be released on the Wii by the end of this year.
As expected, the game will be a light gun shooter and it will star Claire Redfield and Leon Kennedy in a retelling of the events of Resident Evil 2. Unseen events from that time period of the Resident Evil mythology will also make their way into the game. The game will include a two-player option or give single players the opportunity to play the game an AI-controlled partner. The game will also introduce the "Evade System" for use in fighting enemies. Presumably players will be able to flick the Wii Remote to jump out of the way of an attack.
Wii owners will get a chance to experience more Resident Evil this year as well with two more GameCube remakes. Dubbed the "Resident Evil Classics" line, Capcom will be bringing
Resident Evil: Wii Edition and
Resident Evil Zero: Wii Edition to the Wii this year at a budget price ($29.99 each) and with Wii Remote and Nunchuk support.
For those keeping score at home, this will mark the sixth platform that the original Resident Evil has appeared on (following the PSone, Saturn, PC, GameCube and DS).
We'll have more soon.
