News: The Xbox 360 gets more vertical shooter love.

In Japan, the Xbox 360 is home to a ton of side-scrolling and vertical shooters in the vein of Gradius or Ikaruga. You know, one spaceship against an incoming enemy armada with bullets whizzing everywhere. Now, Valcon Games is bringing one of those games to America as they've announced Raiden Fighters Aces. The game, which will sport a budget price of $29.99, is coming "soon" according to Valcon, although Amazon has it pegged for an April 21 release.

The game will collect the three Raiden Fighters arcade games into a single collection. The games were vertical scrolling shooters that are highly regarded by fans of the genre. As they are vertical shooters, playing them on a widescreen television wastes a lot of screen real estate, so the games will include a side scrolling mode rotate the action 90 degrees. A vertical scrolling option will also be available, plus the option of playing on a widescreen display that is rotated to show the action vertically (with score counters rotated appropriately in each option).

Each game in the collection will include a Training Mode that will allow players to customize their ship, skip to any level or play in slow-motion. Each game will also include two-player cooperative play (offline only) and visual filters "to simulate classic display-types, or change the feel of the game."

As with any good scrolling shooter, there will also be Xbox Live Leaderboards that will surely be very competitive.

We'll have more soon.
