News: EA announces their annual gridiron game with a mystery cover man.
Benjamin Franklin once said "The only sure thing in life is death and taxes." While that may have made sense in 1789, it may need to be amended for 2009 as "The only sure thing in life is death and taxes and that Electronic Arts will release a new Madden Football game in August." Yes, it's that time again, EA has announced Madden NFL 10 will be released on August 14.
As always, EA Tiburon will be developing the game, which will be released on the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, PSP, Wii and Xbox 360. According to EA, Madden NFL 10 will make use of a brand new animation technology that will tie in to the game's theme that players must "Fight For Every Yard." With this new technology, EA has said that players will be able to "drag defenders towards the first down marker, fight for a fumble at the bottom of the pile, and avoid the rush by stepping up into the pocket."
The company has also confirmed they will be dropping the "All-Play" moniker for the Wii version and will instead redesign and build it from the ground up using a "unique, genre-defining art style that will raise the bar for sports games on the console."
EA has yet to confirm who the cover athlete for Madden NFL 10 will be, but instead announced that the cover design will be revealed on Friday, April 24. Nine players are in the running, with two currently listed at Madden NFL 10's official site,
MaddenNFL.EASports.com: Adrian Peterson (RB for the Minnesota Vikings) and Ed Reed (Safety for the Baltimore Ravens).
УThe Tiburon team couldn't be more excited about Madden NFL 10,Ф said Phil Frazier, Senior Producer. УWith online innovation that will connect Madden fans together like never before, an immersive broadcast presentation that captures the suspense and emotion of the NFL, and the most authentic gameplay to date, Madden NFL 10 will be the pinnacle in the award-winning franchise.Ф
We'll have more soon.
