News: Shigeru Miyamoto is the gift that keeps on giving.
In a recent interview with Wired, Shigeru Miyamoto has dropped a few more hints on what features we can expect to see in the next Legend of Zelda game for the Wii.
While Miyamoto is on record at E3 09 as saying the game would utilize the Wii MotionPlus in some form, he told Wired his goal is make the add-on a mandatory part of the next Zelda:
"The goal at this point is that we would make Wii MotionPlus required in order to play Zelda," he said.
"The bigger hurdle for us is not really whether people have a Wii MotionPlus or don't have it, it's whether or not the experience is one where people will think they want to have a Wii Motion Plus in order to experience it," he said.
He also reiterated that the game wasn't on hand at E3 due to the fact it's still very early in development:
УThe development of Zelda has been focused strictly on the gameplay structure at this point. We haven't devoted much in the way of efforts to things like graphical representation, and story, and those types of production elements,Ф he said.
Furthermore, he told Wired that while the game is currently on track for a 2010 release, it could very well be pushed back. And Wired Game|Life editor Chris Kohler surmises that with
Metroid: Other M and
Super Mario Galaxy 2 also on the schedule for 2010, the not-as-far-along next Legend of Zelda would likely be pushed back.
We'll have more soon.
